This is such a beauty. The pansy motif is one of my very favorite used in antique jewelry. Pansy comes from the French Pense, which means "think" or "think on me." This one is crafted from unmarked, but tested 14 carat gold, and it sports 3 lovely amethysts, and 4 small spinel, which actually tested higher on the gem tester than emeralds. It is between and 6 and a 6 and 1/2, but it could be resized by someone used to working with antique jewelry. I've taken so many photos of this to try to get a true picture. The problem is that the stones sparkle a great deal. They are set in a closed backed setting, and I think the ring is circa 1850. The ring is in excellent condition. It weighs 1.68 grams. It is a sturdy, wearable ring.
