This is a lovely mourning ring, in great condition. It is a size 7 and 3/4. It is crafted of 18 carat gold, marked, onyx, black enamel, and natural pearls. The gold work is the beautiful cannetille work which is my favorite. The hallmarks are visible and declare that this ring is British, 18 carat gold, minted in London, in 1826. The center of the ring contains an onyx piece, which is surrounded by 12 .15 mil natural pearls. It weighs 6.5 grams. The beautiful split shank sides contain a black enamel insert. The back of the ring is inscribed : Ann Scholefield ob 1 Sept 1826 aet 73. It is getting harder and harder to find these mourning pieces, even in London. This is a nice piece of history.
