This is a lovely little Victorian, onyx, Intaglio ring. The intaglio appears to me to be a Forget-me-Not. The center of the flower contains a small diamond and the stem and leaves of the flower are gold leaf. The shank of the ring is unmarked but tested 14 carat gold. There is engraved some initials inside which appear to be MMD and then, 79, or 19. It's hard to tell which. The ring looks more like 1880 to me than 1919. The ring is a size 7 and 3/4, though it could be sized, and it weighs 3.6 ounces. The stone itself is a little over 1/2 inch long and 1/4 inch wide.It is in good wearable condition. At first I thought there was gold loss on the leaves of the flowers when I purchased the ring, and I even took it to London to a jeweler, and he said "no," there was never any gold on the leaves. They are meant to be silver. This is a chance to get a nice, inexpensive Victorian ring.
