This is such a beautiful ring that is certain to be noticed by all who see it. It actually pains me to list it for sale, but I have already chosen 3 expensive pieces to keep from my last trip, and I have to have something to sell. I love these rings featuring intaglio, and this one is one of the nicest I have ever seen. First of all, I like red, and this ring features a bed of red enamel, with a forget-me-not comprised of 9 rose cut diamonds. Then there is an amazingly lovely surround of natural pearls to complete this circa 1860 ring, It is a size 6, but it could be sized by one who is used to sizing antiques, and it measures an impressive 1 and 1/4 inch North to South, and 5/8 of an inch East to West. The ring is crafted of unmarked but tested 18 carat yellow gold and it weighs 8.7 grams. The back features a lovely locket back, intact with glass. There is white silk there now, but it was probably intended to contain a lock of hair of a loved one. A jeweler could even place a photo there, or the lock of hair of a loved one of the purchaser. Rings like have have not been created for many years.
