This is certainly a striking Victorian Rose Cut Diamond Ring. The center stone has a spread of 1.25 carats. Let me say that we can not weigh rose cut diamonds the way that modern diamonds would be weighed, and of course we can not take them out of their setting to weigh them. What I can do is to use a took which measures the spread of the stone , so this one has the same spread of that as a 1.25 carat diamond. It also has a lovely curved shank, and while the shank is 18 carat unmarked, but tested yellow gold, the diamonds are closed backed and set in silver as they always were at that time. The ring is a size 7 and 1/2, but could be sized by someone used to working with antique jewelry. The ring weighs 5.3 grams. This one is certain to be noticed. The diamonds have a lot of flash and fire.
