What a beauty this ring is! I really want to keep it, and really hate to list it, but alas , I just spent a lot of money on my recent buying trip, and bills from that are coming in, and I've already kept two pieces, so I must list some wonderful items to sell. I have had several blue verre eglomise memorial pieces, but can't recall having a memorial ring with a sapphire, such as this one. The ring is fashioned in 18 carat yellow gold, unmarked, but tested. The sapphire has a rose cut diamond , set in silver as they were, on either side. The ring has the basket back so popular during this Georgian period, the band tells its story in black enamel. It reads: "T. Gerry. ESQ OB 18 July. 1774.AE 73." The ring is in amazing shape for its 222 years; even the enamel, which so often goes, is in good condition. This ring is a size 6 and 1/4, and can not be sized except for an internal ring sizer. The sapphire measures 1/4 inch East to West, and a little less North to South, The ring weighs 3.1 grams. It is amazing.
