This is a very nice, In Memory Of mourning ring. It has a black enamel shield with a nice rose cut diamond, and the shank consists of black enamel with In Memory Of written with gold letters going all the way around the shank. The ring is in excellent condition with no damage to the enamel. It is a size 7 and 1/2 to 8. It was difficult to size because, like so many older pieces, it measures one size on the sizer placed with the front up, and another, larger size when placed with the front down, but judging by the way it fits my finger, I believe it to be 7 and 1/2 to 8. The ring cannot be sized except with an internal , metal sizer. The ring weighs 4.3 grams, and the shield measures 3/8 of an inch North to South, and the same East to West. Inside the band , the hallmarks are fully visible, and declare that the ring is 18 carat gold, minted in Sheffield, in the year, 1823. Inside the ring is engraved Charl (most likely for Charlotte) Mary Ann Lucas (or Sucas) ob 16th Feb, 1835 AET 16, and there is a glass covered locket at the back of the shield with woven hair. This ring looks very nice on the finger, with the dark, black enamel, and the bright diamond.
Gender: Unisex, Age Group: Adult, Color: Black and gold, Size: 7 and 1/2 to 8
