This is a nice, Wearable "gate bracelet," circa 1880. In Victorian times, it was the fashion to wear these bracelets with a padlock, and of course the idea was to be that your loved one had the key, but the only ones I've ever seen just open from the gold at the top. This one is marked 9 carat, as most of them are , and that actually a good thing because they are very wearable and sturdy, and they lay flat. This one measures 7 inches long, and the links are 1/4 of inch wide. The bracelet weighs 12.1 grams. This is a nice piece of antique jewelry that can be worn everyday.
