This is another item I got on my last trip to England unlike anything I'd seen before. I know Victorians were fascinated with the natural world, and they had stuffed birds under glass, jewelry made to look like spiders, birds, etc, and things made, I thing, with hummingbird wings, or whatever, but this is a pendant (sterling silver) with three "lockets" with curved glass, holding parts of butterfly wings. The bottom drop holds a cabochon turquoise. This is from the Arts and Crafts period, circa 1900. It could use a cleaning with a silver polishing cloth (I would not immerse it), but I have left it alone, largely, though I did take the cloth to clean the back a little, where it had some darkened spots, though it could stand more. Some folks don't like items like this cleaned up, but I prefer the silver brighter, especially the chain. I am happy to include a silver cleaning cloth with the purchase. They are very easy to use, and they would brighten the chain considerably. This necklace altogether is 18 and 1/2 inches long The larger locket in the center, along with the filigreed silver, measures almost 3/4 of an inch East to West, and about the same North to South. This is a unique piece, over 100 years old, which is in very good condition. It weighs 7.2 grams.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: Silver and Blue, Size: 18 and 1/2 inches long
