This is a lovely Marquis shaped emerald and diamond ring, circa 1880. I liked it so much, I kept it for myself, and have worn it for over a year. It is pretty and sturdy, I have lost a lot of weight, however, and it is now too large for my index finger on my left hand, but not large enough for the same finger on the right hand to go over the knuckle. It kept turning around the last time I wore it, and it nearly came off, so I have decided to list it on Ruby Lane. It could be resized by sonetcne who is used to working with antique jewelry , but in my case, as my fingers are smaller than normal, I usually just find another ring to wear. This ring is fashioned from 18 carat gold, unmarked but acid tested. The stones have a closed backed setting, and the ring contains 9 rose cut diamonds, and the center emerald has the span of a .75 stone. Of course one can't weigh antique stones the same way as modern ones, and they would have to be taken out of the setting and weighed, but I have a tool that shows the size of the stones, rather than the weight. This ring weighs 6.9 grams. I hate to let it go, as it is lovely and wearable, but I must.
