This is a large tablespoon, which is sterling silver. It is in excellent condition, and it dates from 1778! I am amazed at the wonderful condition. The best I could weigh it, with the bowl of the spoon turned down, it weighs 59.534 grams (2.1 ounces). It measures 8 and 1/2 inches long. It doesn't appear to have ever been monogramed. The hallmarks are clearly visible, declaring this spoon to be British Sterling silver, minted in London in the year 1778. The handle of the spoon curves downward. This is a feature I've seen in several Georgian spoons. This is a change to have a piece of real history, right on your table. This is a very usable piece. In fact I plan to keep one of the ones I got for my own use.
