This is a wonderful silhouette, painted by John Fields, who was a partner of the celebrated Miers. They were both known for using the gold on the silhouette, as this one shows. It is fitted in a pendant frame of gold, though I'm not sure of the weight. The back has beautiful hairwork. The piece is in excellent condition, though my photo is showing some glare. There is one dark mark, from hair, by ear, down to neck. I can only see it with a loupe, and it must be a mark in the paint. It doesn't detract, as it can't be seen with the naked eye. The piece measures 1 and 5/8 inch North to South, counting bail, and 1 inch East to West. This is the nicest of these pieces I've seen in a long time, and the beautiful hairwork is an extra bonus!
