This lovely box is another item I found in my boxes of stock which I thought had been listed on Ruby Lane, but it had not. It is in amazing shape, and I was told by the very experienced and knowledgeable English dealer from whom I bought it that it was circa 1790. That is almost hard to believe, as there are no cracks in the box. Obviously it has never been used much, but the dealer from whom I bought this is well respected, so I bow to his judgment. I'm not sure rather this box was used for snuff (It has a tight. clasp, so it could have been used for that), or it may have been simply a trinket box. The box measures 2 and 1/4 inches around. It is a rare beauty, and would be a great addition to any early box or French Country Collection,
