This is a lovely Pietra Dura Locket, with the photo of a lovely young Victorian woman on the back, though one could place the photo of a current loved one if one so desired, or better yet, put your photo on top of the current one. That's what I do, as I hate to remove an original photo. The locket is set in unmarked but tested 9 carat gold, though the bale appears to be metal. The locket weighs 8.37 grams, and measures, not counting the bale, 1 and 5/8 inches long, and 1 inch wide. It is in excellent condition, and is circa 1860. I love that it's a locket, as so many nice Pietra Dura pieces are large brooches, and the locket goes better with the clothes we wear today.
