This is another of the lovely Victorian brooches of beautifully worked metal. I'm not sure whether the stone is actually an amethyst, or whether it is paste, but I do know that they look very good on, and would grace any blouse. This piece, circa 1880, still has the original "c' clasp, and "t" hinge, and is in excellent condition. It measures 1 and 1/4 inches East to West, and 1 inch North to South. There is no white mark on the back as it might appear in the photo. This is the result of glare on the faceted stone.
