This is a very interesting "book box," or a box fashioned to look like a book, and used for storage. This one is large, measuring 6 and 3/4 inches North to South, and 4 inches East to West. It is 2 and 1/4 inches thick. It is crafted of beautiful, light, English Oak, and it is in excellent condition. The English dealer from whom I bought it just called it a "Collecting Box." It looks like a box for collecting money, or a bank, to me.
