These precious items have always been expensive, but recently they have really exploded in price, and I actually removed two that I had on Ruby Lane, with skeleton and skull and crossbones, to keep in my own mourning collection, because I knew I could not replace them for my asking price. I did come upon this one, at an unusually reasonable price (as long as the dollar doesn't fall too much) and, as I have a heart shaped one with a skull already in my collection, I am willing to pass this one along to another lucky collector. This high carat gold heart (at least 18 carat or better) is a brooch, but a jump ring has been added so it can be worn as a pendant. We have a bed of gray, or blonde, or blonde mixed with gray hair, and on the bed of hair s the skull and crossbones. Above that is the scribe "W G," or "WC," and below the skull is the scribe "MW." The "t" hinge to the brooch is an old one, but there is a good possibility this was once a circa 1690 slide, and then a 100 years later, the hooks for the slide could have been removed and the fittings for a brooch added. I can't see any holes or indentations where the slide fittings might have been, so my only reason for saying this is a possibility is that the same scribes are engraved on the back of the piece, and the "t" hinge is sitting on top of part of the "C," there. I can't say for certain, however. What I can say is that these Stuart Crystal hearts with a skull or skeleton are rare outside of museums, and finding one at an even half way affordable price is even more rare. This one is in excellent condition for a collector. I would not even consider selling this piece if I did not already have a Stuart Crystal Heart with a Skull. The heart measures 3/4 of an inch North to South (not counting bale), and 3/4 of an inch East to West.
