I have never seen such a large pique heart, and the English dealer from whom I bought it said the same thing. She didn't know how old it was, but she felt quite early and circa 1830 or so. Both the back and the front are perfect, and all the gold is present. The heart opens, and one could place a two photos inside. As I said, this is the largest and thickest pique heart I have ever seen. It has a bale for a chain, but probably could use a larger one attached for a thicker chain or ribbon. This piece measures 1 and 1/4 inches North to South, and just a tad bit smaller East to West. It is 5/8 of an inch thick. What a find this is!
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: brown and gold, Size: 1 and 1/4 by 1 and 1/8 inches
