Here is a wonderfully bound, 1st edition of Nicholas Nickleby, bound from the serial parts which were published in 1839. The binding is a rich green marbled board, with tan leather spine and sides. The date, 1839 is on the spine, and the only damage is some foxing on some of the pages. It contains the illustrations by Phiz, and as an extra bonus, there is the bookplate of the original owner. My English bookseller tells me this one was bound without the half title. This is a nice one that I plan to read. I saw the movie and really enjoyed that. Usually I read the books first, and then see the movies! This volume measures 8 and 1/2 inches North to South, 5 and 1/4 inches East to West, and is 1 and 1/2 inches thick.
