These two volumes can only be described as works of art. They are full calf, vibrant red leather, with gold tooling on the spine, marbled front and end pieces, and gilded pages. They are Sacred and Legendary Art, by Mrs. Jameson, and they were published in London, in 1863. It is a very thorough study of religious art that existed at the time, and there are several illustrations and etchings in each volume. Each book measures 8 and 1/2 inches North to South, 6 inches East to West, and is 1 inch and 1/4 deep. The books are in excellent condition--with only some minor foxing on a few pages.
