This is a very nice portrait miniature, on vellum. of a Redcoat. He is very nicely painted, with no paint loss, and he appears to be in his original black frame, with glass. This frame has something I've never seen before. At the top of the design, which is usually an acorn though this just looks like a flower, is the name "Beard," and "Pat Pending." This piece, framed, measures 6 and 3/8 inches North to South, and 6 inches East to West. The painting itself measures 3 inches North to South, and 2 and 1/4 inches East to West. The color of his redcoat is still very vibrant. I wish he could talk and tell us his story! He is circa 1810.
