This is a lovely and unusual mourning piece, because you have the hard stone cameo, set inside the black and 18 carat gold enamel. This piece is circa 1860, and in excellent condition. The cameo contains the urn and the weeping willow, and then the black and gold enamel is designed in a beautiful scrolled pattern. There is a ring, so that the piece may be worn as a pendant, and there is the original "T" hinge and "c" clasp brooch back. One of the nicest aspects of this piece I think, is the wonderful locket on the back with the nice, white hair, fashioned in a Prince-of-Wales plume. The brooch/pendant measures 2 inches North to South, and 1 inch and a half East to West. What a great piece this is to add to a memorial jewelry collection, or just to commemorate the loss of a loved one.
