Here is one of the prized mourning miniatures, consisting of a sepia painting. There is the woman in Georgian dress, kneeling by the tomb on which there appears to be a flame. On the tomb are the words "Friendship Approves." There is a bird flying toward heaven. The brooch has its original "T" clasp and "c" hinge, and is crafted of gold, 9 carat or better. The brooch is navette shaped, and measures 1 and 1/4 inches North to South, and 6/8 of an inch East to West. This circa 1790 brooch is in excellent condition. Note: The white streak at the top of the brooch is the glare of the sun on the glass. There is no discoloration.
