This is one of the most unique memorial rings that I have ever seen, and I would love to keep it for my own collection. Alas, I spent a lot of money on my last buying trip, and need to recoup! The top of this ring has what looks to me like a fleur-de-lis shape, with six rose cut diamonds. This sits on a bed of black enamel, and the shank is also enameled. I have never seen one with this type of top and the enameled band before. The enamel on the band is in very good condition, and reads " Allen Penn, d 21st Feb, 1786 aged 28." The ring is a size 7, and the top, navette shaped, measures 3/4 of an inch North to South, and 1/2 inch, East to West. The ring is most likely 18 carat, but I have not tested the gold content. It is a wonderful piece to have in any memorial collection. If i don't sell it before I get my debts paid off, it will stay in mine!
