This is one of the nicest so called "gate bracelets" I have seen. It is all unmarked 9 ct gold, but the links of the bracelet make it a very special piece, Each link, as well as the ring that holds them together, is chased. Then there is the beautiful padloct with a large garnet. The back of the padlock has glass and what appears to be material. It was probably meant to hold the hair of a loved one. The bracelet is in perfect condition except for a few scratches on the glass that are consistent with the age of the piece. It is circa 1890, and measures 7 and 7/8 to 8 inches long, and about 1/2 centimeter wide. The bracelet weighs 15.62 grams. This is a lovely, wearable piece.
