This is quite an early and large Haley's Comet Brooch. As many of you know, the Victorians, and even late Georgians, were fascinated with the coming of Haley's comet, and they designed jewelry to look like the comet. This brooch is nice because it is gold, and has the very nice black dot paste. It measures 1 inch and 1/4 East to West from the end of one stone to the other. It is 3/8 of an inch wide at the widest point, and it weighs 3.32 grams. The piece retains it's original "c" clasp and "t" hinge on the pin. This brooch is circa 1815, and in excellent condition.
