Stomacher, Brooch, Pendant, Austro-Hungarian, Emeralds, Pearls, and Garnets - image 1 of 4

What a find this one is. It just about knocks ones eyes out with its quality and detail. I was told by the dealer who sold this to me, that it was a copy of pieces from the 1600's, and it was done circa 1830, so it is late Georgian or very early Victorian. The piece is silver gilt, and it covered with natural rubies, emeralds, and garnets. There is also a lot of intricate enameling. This is a stomacher, or brooch, complete with its original "t' hook and "c' clasp, but it could be pinned on a piece of velvet ribbon to make a stunning pendant. I'm sure there is some, slight, wear to the enamel, but I see no missing stones. This piece weights 19.55 grams, and measures 2 and 1/2 inches North to South, and 2 and 1/2 inches wide. There is a mark on the pin; I could not get a clear photo of it, try a I might, but I was told, by the English dealer from whom I bought this piece, that is was the mark for Budapest. I did test the piece and it is silver. This is a real find for anyone who loves early jewelry; especially Austro-Hungarian pieces.
