This lovely choker is a very clever creation. It is fashioned from a blue velvet ribbon, a few snaps, and a Georgian cut steel buckle, which was most likely worn on a shoe. The buckle is circa 1790, and is in as nice and shiny condition as it was when it was new. It measures 4 and 1/2 inches around, and fits my neck perfectly, but it could easily be made larger by just sliding the buckle off the ribbon, getting a larger ribbon, slide the buckle back on, and adding a few snaps. This is a nice way to have an authentic antique that is lovely, wearable, and relatively inexpensive.
