What a beauty this is. I must confess I've had it a while and have not listed it because i wanted to keep it. I love it when you can find these already strung. It's so much cheaper. Anyway this 1690 Stuart Crystal clasp is a love token. It features hairwork, pink silk, two doves on a branch, and a scribe. I can't really make the scribe out, so I guess it can be anything the new owner wants it to be. The back of the crystal is inscribed I P. The crystal itself measures nearly an inch East to West, including the hooks for the pearls . It measures 3/4 of an inch North to South. This over 300 year old clasp is in perfect condition. Someone has kindly threaded this beautiful clasp with double rows of seed pearls. There are actually four small strands in each hook and there are 5 hooks. The necklace, including the one side of the crystal, measures 16 inches long. It's just a tad big for me and I have to twist it, which looks ok, or I'd never think of selling it. The entire piece weighs 35 grams.
