This is a very nice Georgian chain that was fashioned from that wonderful metal called pinchbeck, which wears like gold, and does not turn colors, but is not gold! Actually, it sometimes looks brighter and better than gold, and about the only way I can tell by looking that this isn't gold, is that it is heavier than the gold Georgian chains. Anyway, this one is circa 1800, in great condition with beautiful links, and it's 38 inches long. This is a great piece for one who wants an authentic Georgian chain, but does not want to pay the big bucks for the gold ones. I actually bought this from an English dealer friend of mine, who had worn it for many years, but decided to sell it because she wanted the money for something else.
