This is a lovely Victorian (circa 1860) hair brooch, set in 9 ct. gold (unmarked but tested) which features a wonderful bouquet of flowers. The flowers are all fashioned from human hair, and I can only imagine the amount of work that must have gone into this labor of love . I think it more likely that it was a sentimental piece, rather than a memorial one, but it is in excellent condition with no floating hair, etc. The back features the "c" hinge and the "t"clasp that is original to the piece. The brooch measures a little over 2 inches East to West, and 1 inch and 1/4 North to South. I weighs 16.82 grams.
