This is a wonderful sepia and hair miniature, sepia painting. It's one of the nicest I have seen. I only wish it were set in gold rather than metal, but of course, then it would be much more expensive. This is probably French, and probably meant for a bride, as these items were often in wedding baskets. It is circa 1780, and it features two lovebirds on a plinth of hair, with arrows at the bottom. There is a dove at the top. The piece can be worn as a pendant or a brooch, and it measures 1 and 3/4 inches North to South, and is 1 inch long, East to West.
