This is a lovely book with marbled paper cloth boards, velum spine and corners, and bright red coloring on the ends of the pages. It is Romola, by the famed George Eliot of Silas Marner fame. The book is in very good condition, with only three small air bubbles of the paper on the back of the book, though none of the paper is torn. The volume has beautiful marbled paper front and end pieces, and it was published in London in 1888, by Smith, Elder and Co. The book measures 7 inches North to South, almost 4 and 1/2 inches East to West, and is 1 inch thick. This volume also has red coloring on the end of its pages. As most of you know, this famed "George," was actually Mary Ann Evans, but she took a male pseudonym as it was deemed unseemly for a woman to write novels.
