This is a nice volume , and first edition, of The Oxford Book of English Verse, 1250-1900. It was published in Oxford, by Clarendon Press, in 1912. It has leather spine and corners, with the rest of the volume being cloth, It is in very good condition, with all pages present and tight . The spine is tooled in gold with the book title and the date. The book measures 7 and 3/4 inches, North to South, and 5 and 1/4 inches East to West. There is a very interesting card, all in French, inside this volume. The best I can tell, by using a little knowledge of English and Spanish but no French, this is a funeral card for a soldier killed at Dunkerque in 1940. The back of the card, I believe, contains the prayer of St. Francis, but all is in French. I love finding items like this in antique books, and I always keep them there where they have resided for so many years.
