This is a wonderful, red leather, prize edition of the Poetical Works on Matthew Arnold. It is in excellent condition , and was published in London, by Macmillan and Co, 1908. This is a prize edition, which means that it was given in an English school to someone as a prize for achievement. The prize bindings are my favorite, I believe. This one also has gorgeous marbled paper inside with a nice plate of the poet. The page edges are gilded, as is the spine. The volume measures 7 and 1/2 inches North to South, and 5 and 1/4 inches East to West. Soon these lovely volumes will only be found in private collections, and museums.
