This is a beautiful, heart shaped locket. There is a lovely pattern of hair work on one side, and the other side has the original material. This side could contain the hair or photo of the new owner's loved one. The locket is unmarked but tested 14 carat gold. The locket is in excellent condition, and measures, without bale, 3/4 of an inch North to South, and 5/8 of an inch East to West. This locket is circa 1830. I am not listing this as a mourning piece, though it may well be. It could just as well be a token of love, as hair was often exchanged as a memento between loved ones.
