This is a unique, black, memorial band. It commemorates the death of two people--a husband and wife. The ring is a size 8 and 3/4, and it can not be resized. A sizing band could be worn inside it to make it smaller if necessary. The black enamel is in very good condition; there are some pits in the rings of white enamel that circle the black, but those bands are so narrow, it is barely noticeable. The band reads (top name) John Hummel ob 21st Feb, 1793 AE 59. The 2nd name reads Jane Hummel, ob 1st August 1800 AE 57. The band is 1/4 of an inch wide. The hallmarks are present but the weight of the gold is not marked; I am pretty sure, though, that it is 18 ct.
