This is a very interesting volume by Alfred Gatty D.D. Apparently this is an early type of Spark Notes on Tennyson's famous "In memoriam," which is a memorial to his friend, Arthur Hallam, who died tragically. It is bound in beautiful full leather, and is in very good condition. The book measures 6 and 1/2 inches North to South, 4 and 1/4 inches East to West, and is 3/4 of an inch thick. The ends of the pages are gilded, and there is gold tooling all around. The book was published in London , by George Bell and Sons, in the year 1897. The fronts and ends pieces are in marbled paper. This is a unique volume that I have seriously considered keeping for myself, but need to add a few things, LOL!
