This is a most unique piece. It is a pendant, crafted of either unmarked 18k or 15 k gold; I did not scratch it to see which. On the outside, is written "My Olive Branches." Inside, is lovely hairwork, under glass, with beautiful curls of hair bound together with ribbon,. On the other side, the date, 1849, is etched. I realized, when I bought this lovely piece, that the hair was that of the original owner's children, but it did not dawn on me, until noted author Jeanene Bell visited me in my booth at the Miami show and took pictures of this item for possible publication in her next book, that the original owner's name was Olive. That had not occurred to me. "Duh." I was thinking "elements of peace," etc. Sometimes we just try to make things too difficult! Anyway, this is a great piece, measuring 1 inch and 1/8 in diameter, and to weighs 14.71 grams. It is in great condition for it's nearly 150 years; it has two little pin prick dents on the back, as though a pin pressed into it, but these do no detract and are on the back. This is a piece, I would be glad to add to my own collection, if I do not sell it before I get the debt from my latest shopping trip paid off!
