This is a very nice memorial ring, navette shaped, with a painting done with watercolor. We have the lady in Georgian dress, mourning by the urn, under the weeping willow tree, and she has the scroll (scroll of life) in her hand. The ring is quite large, with the navette top measuring 1 and 3/8 inches North to South, and 3/4 of an inch East to West. The painting is bordered with white enamel, suggesting that the deceased was unmarried, and then there is a lovely border of gold beadwork surrounding the enamel. The shoulders of the shank of the ring are chased, and the ring is engraved on the back as follows: "Mr. Richard Ninicombe, ob 21st December, 1787 AE 62." The ring is a size 5 and 1/2. It could be sized by someone who is used to working with antique pieces.
