This is a lovely watch fob/seal with a black stone I believe to be paste, and an intaglio of a forget me not, and the words "Welcome Today, Tomorrow Die." I was told this was 9 carat in London, but I have a new digital tester, and even though I paid extra for one to go down to 9 carat, nothing unmarked has tested 9 yet. This tested 10 carat. The English do no officially have 10 carat, but at the time these items were made, the gold standard, for unmarked things, was not that accurate. This fob measures 1 inch tall, and the part bearing the intaglio is 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch. This piece would be a great addition to a watch chain or a charm bracelet. I believe this piece to be circa 1850-60.
