This is a very nice tartan wear needle case in the Stuart pattern. It is circa 1850, and in good condition for its age. There is a small amount of damage (see photo taken with macro lens) in the upper right hand corner, but it is small and not very noticeable.Inside we have various large sewing needles, including several with small crochet hooks. There is also a needle threader. Closed this piece measures 7 and 1/2 inches East to West, and 2 inches North to South. This is a rare and early piece of tartan.
