This lovely Tumbridgeware Thermomoter (marquetry) is circa1870, in excellent condition, and in working order, giving the temperature in Farenheight. So many little pieces of wood go together to make this lovely item. This type of work originated in Tunbridge Wells, England, and I was told that it was started in the prison as a hobby for the prisoners. At any rate, this is one of the nicest examples of that type of work I have seen. It measures 8 inches tall and 2 and 1/2 inches wide at the base. What a beautiful piece of work this is.
