What a beautiful little sewing box this is. It is crafted of Rosewood, but there is a lot of detailed woodworking in a lighter wood. The most amazing thing to me is that this , circa 1830 box, still has it's original key, and the lock works. The box is in very good condition save a thin split of the wood on the top. The close up photo shows this, but keep in mind that the photo was taken with a macro lens, and therefore magnified quite a bit.The split is tight, and barely noticeable to the naked eye. The box measures 5 and 1/4 inches East to West, 5 inches North to South, and it is two inches tall. What a lovely addition this would be to any parlour, or sewing table.
