Eye brooches that I feel good about are very hard to come by, as I see so many that I think are married , cut from a painting and stuck in a period frame, or even worse, newly painted. This one is small but mighty. It is a brooch which tests 11 carat gold, has an eye, painted on card, and some hair work in kidney shaped frames, has a natural pearl seed pearl surround. This piece appears to be all original, and I have shown it to several other English dealers who agree that it is "right." It measures 5/8 of an inch in diameter, and weighs 3.91 grams. I am very pleased to be able to offer this historic piece quite a reasonable price I think, as these "eyes," often go for very large sums.
