I have always loved these English Enamel boxes, since I first saw one. I pray that I won't start another collection, but if I do, it will be they. I have kept two mourning ones. It's very hard to find these circa 1800 boxes in decent shape, but I recently found a nice collection on my last trip to England. This one, a patch box, is a nice size, 1 and 3/4 inches East to West, and 1 inch and 1/4 North to South. It is in amazing condition for it's 200 plus years. There is no damage to the box, save for some age marks, and remember, my photos are taken with a macro lens so these marks don't even show up without magnification. The most amazing thing about the boxes in this collection, is that they appear to have the original mirror, and I have never before seen that. Usually the mirror has been replaced long ago. The mirror, while cracked, does appear to be original, or at least very old. The colors on these boxes remain as vibrant as they were when they were first crafted.
