This retro beauty (circa 70's) belongs to a dear friend of mine who says she never has the occasion to wear it, and would like to buy a gold D.A.R. pin. I had it appraised for her myself, October, 2013, by a Nashville Jeweler. He describes it thus: Ladies diamond fashion ring crafted in 14 karat yellow gold. This beautiful ring features a rounded marquise or football shaped top plate that houses 2 and 3/4 cttw of diamonds. The diamonds are categorized as follows: 32 prong set, tapered baguette diamonds that are .04 carat each for a combined carat weight of 1.00 cttw, 9 prong set round brilliant cut diamonds that are .055 carat each for an additional 1/2 cttw. The diamonds are graded by the standards of the Gemological Institute of America as S12-11 in clarity and I in color grade, The gold in the mounting has a weight of 7.5 DWT's. He has appraised the ring at $6,999.00. The ring is a size 7 and 3/4 to 8, but could be sized by a good jeweler. I have photographed it on my biggest finger, the pointer on my right hand. Keep in mind my fingers are fairly small, and my ring finger is a size 5 to 5 and 1/4. My friend just basically wants what she paid for the ring several years ago, so this is a chance for a bargain that will increase in value. Of course the $48 dollar appraisal comes with the ring.
