Here we have one of the oh so prized and very difficult to find "skull rings." This one features a Crystal, with a skull embedded. The shank of the ring is engraved with the deceased details. Much of the black enamel is gone from around the words, but some still exists. It reads: Revd C Toppand, 0b 26th July, 1747 at 76." The ring is a size 8 and 1/4, and it can not be sized. It is in excellent condition save for the wear of some of the black enamel, which is in keeping with the age of the piece. It is unmarked, but tested, 18 carat gold, and it weighs 2.78 ounces. The crystal itself measures 1/4 inch by 3/16. It is a lovely ring, and these will soon only be found in museums. Note: I have seen remarkable work done in replacing enamel as this in London for very reasonable prices. I could most likely have this done if that is what a buyer wanted. It's really fine, though, with the worn enamel.
