This great and large sized jewelry box features rococo styling with landscape and tavern scene decoration. The lid of the box is worked in high relief repousse work of a tavern scene and the sides feature buildings in landscapes. The interior of the box shows traces of original vermeil gilding or gold wash. The bottom of the box features 3 hallmarks typical of 18th century French silver, possibly Paris or Dijon. Based on the decoration of the box it is plausible that it is in fact German, or Dutch, and not French.
The Box measures 2 1/8 inches (5.5 cm) tall by 5 1/2 Inches (14.0 cm) wide and 4 Inches (10.3 cm) deep.
The box weighs just under 10 ounces troy.
