Vintage Deco Ciro Duette Brooch & Dress Clips in Original Box, circa 1940s Signed CP England

This is a stunning Art Deco c 1940s duette brooch and dress clips set by the famous jewellery house Ciro, presented in the original box, inscribed Ciro of Bond St. London & New York. Each clip is signed CP (Ciro Pearl) England (the House's costume jewellery mark) with the brooch mechanism bearing the mark Pat App'd For.

Invented by Cartier in 1927, Duette Clips became a hallmark of the Art Deco era, beloved for their versatility and glamour. This particular set features Trifari’s patented Clip Mates design, which allows the clips to slide with ease on and off a central rail. This ingenious design means the clips can be worn either as a brooch or as separate dress clips, giving the owner multiple styling options.

The brooch measures 2 inches in length and is 1 inch wide, whilst each clip measures 1 x 1 inch. The diamante crystals are bright, as is the setting, apart from minor cosmetic marks one can expect in a piece of this age (not visible whilst wearing it).

Vintage dress clips like these were used in many creative ways, such as accenting a dress neckline, embellishing a jacket lapel, securing a scarf, or even decorating shoes. They could also be fashioned into necklaces by attaching them to a velvet ribbon or a chain, or displayed on flapper-style headbands. With its timeless elegance, this set remains a fine example of the ingenuity and glamour of the Art Deco period.
